Bureau Veritas has been appointed by the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) to provide Pre-export Verification of Conformity (PVoC) to standards services.

Starting from the 18th January 2012 Bureau Veritas will carry out the verification of regulated goods in the countries of export within the assigned regions:

*  United Kingdom
*  China
*  India Sub-Continent
*  Far East
*  Ex Soviet Union Republics
*  Central Europe
*  United Arab Emirates
*  Southern & Central Africa
*  The products that are covered include:
*  Food and related products
*  Chemical and related products
*  Textile and Consumer products
*  Building and related products
*  Mechanical and electrical products

Companies exporting these goods to Kenya must obtain the required Certificate of Conformity (CoC) after the conformity of goods are checked prior to shipment. To do so exporters are advised to contact Bureau Veritas with: the list of products, related conformity proofs to Kenyan standards or international/regional/national standards.

To facilitate trade and to adjust intervention according to the risk, the PVoC programme offers three different routes to demonstrate products compliance:

*  Route A: Applicable to any goods and any trader
*  Route B: Option for frequent traders of goods that have been registered by Bureau Veritas
*  Route C:Option for frequent traders of goods that have been licensed by Bureau Veritas
