IFE an international research institute for energy and nuclear technology, has been certified by DNV Business Assurance in accordance with the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 international standards.
ISO refers to a series of worldwide standards issued by the International Organization for Standardization. While ISO 9001 stipulates how an organisation is to ensure that the quality of its products or services remains stable over time ISO 14001 deals with an organisations environmental management system. Certification in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 means that IFE meets the standards high quality and environmental management requirements.
These certificates show that IFEs management of its quality assurance and impact on the external environment is good and, not least, that the institute meets internationally recognised standards. It has been especially positive to see how IFE has involved large parts of its organisation in the thorough process of becoming an ISO certified institute, says Thomas VogthEriksen, Chief Operating Officer in DNV.
Mr VogthEriksen awarded the certificates today in a ceremony at Kjeller, outside Oslo.
Focus on quality and the environment
All of IFEs activities have been certified, research, development, operations and services. The institute covers a wide range of professional areas, including petroleum technology, man and technology, nuclear safety and reliability, radioactive medicines, basic research in physics and a strong focus on renewable energy and environmental technology. In accordance with the certification rules, DNV will conduct annual audits of IFE to confirm that the institute is maintaining and continuously improving its quality and external environment management routines and performance.
In line with its vision of zero tolerance when it comes to work related damages to health, property and the environment, the institute has worked systematically to comply with the two standards. The institute wants to show the world that it prioritises quality and the environment.
This is good news to tell our customers, business partners and relevant authorities, says Eva S. Dugstad, the CEO of IFE.
